| So,
updates will hopefully be rolling in a bit more frequently (or closer
to actual events anyway). As usual, I'm still in the process of
redesigning, so apologies for mismatched pages etc. It WILL be happening
this spring. The actual discography pages maybe not, but the rest
- label sorting, articles, sounds, pics etc.....so....
ot really a full update, but I wanted to
throw two blogs your way. The first is musichertz.blogspot.com/
which is a great resource for some rare Laswell stuff as well as
other related projects.
The other is unheard78.blogspot.com.
It's just getting off the ground, but is very well written and (in
my opinion anyway) a fun read. This cat also has a well researched
post regarding the unreleased Jungle Brothers album 'Crazy Wisdom
Masters' (track list in the discography section on this site finally).
He's cobbled together a lot of what went into this album and it's
subsequent suppression from talking to people involved directly
and indirectly with it, including Matt Stein and Skiz from WordSound.
Check it out.
May 2, 2009
Not really anything new released since last update, but here's
a list of some things upcoming...most don't have release dates,
but hopefully we'll see them sooner rather than later (thanks to
Musso Music for some of the info):
The Project Pale (OHM Resistance)..out May 5. Mixed by Laswell.
Excavation II...more trips to the vault. Should be out soon, available
at DTMG.
Loud Apt....EP mixed and produced by Laswell. Soon.
Beatundercontrol...remix album featuring Laswell, Scorn, Youth
and others on Malicious Damage Records. Out in the Fall, but Ulf
from Beatundercontrol said they plan to release the Laswell remix
on iTunes this month.
Laswell, Nauseef and Sussan Deyhim on Meta.
Remix of Azzddine track.
A Rammellzee compilation CD.
A Dr. Israel/Killah Priest album.
Oh yeah....and I've added a listing for the long lost Jungle Brothers
album. Don't ask about copies, though. I only have some track and
timing info and no copy to trade.
(March 25) UPDATES: Added Jai Uttal's new release
Thunder Love. This was mixed by Laswell and he contributes
to two tracks as a player. Also Invisible Design II, on Tzadik.
More solo bass excursions.
Kurt (Submerged) Gluck has confirmed in various places that a new
Method of Defiance is being worked on featuring (among others) Laswell,
Submerged, Justin Broadrick, Wata (from Boris) and Dr. Israel.
Also, Eraldo Bernocchi made a trip to the Netherlands this week
to record with Kondo for Kondo's contribution to the in progress
Charged album.
I've finally added some unreleased stuff that was recorded but
never released byt whatever label commissioned it. Herbie Hancock
Electric remixes (listed under Herbie Hancock and Bill Laswell),
The long-missing Beat Alchemy: Sublime Manipulations that
was originally to be called Excavation and come out through
Innerhythmic (under Collections), The Tony Williams Lifetime remixes
and two releases under Laswell's name - In Praise of Shadows
(the Sony Classical remixes) and Excavation: Unauthorized Cut-Up
Vol I.
Gigs....here's some for you...

(March 15) UPDATES: under
Collections we have Spent: Beats to Bring you Back and Innerhythmic:
Cause & Effect. Both are new, but not new material. Cause &
Effect is basically an Innerhythmic sampler. Spent is a compilation
of slightly remixed/re-edited tracks to accompany a book called
Spent about Holistic Medicine I believe. Also the new Submerged
comp (previously released track) and The Toy Killers...old nuggets
from the early '80s never before released.
